Egypt
is a traditional leader in the Middle East in the field of
higher medical education. In recent years, and due to the
admission of increasingly large numbers in the governmental
universities, Egypt’s leading status was seriously threatened.
Some major and decisive factors in the proper teaching
and training of the undergraduates in the medical field are
the efficient knowledge deliverance as well as the close interaction
between the student and the teacher. |

The
availability of well-equipped medical laboratories for histology,
medical biochemistry, physiology, pathology, etc., as well
as a fully integrated anatomy facility are fundamental to
the preparation of a reliable and knowledgeable future general
medical practitioners.
The
student / instructor ratio is again a very sensitive criterion
in this specialisation. All of these factors have prompted
the University to tackle the complex undertaking of forming
a modern College of Medicine offering viable solutions to
these issues. |
MUST’s
College of Medicine was born strong and efficient. The grouping of the well-respected
professors in this college, together with the support of all
the required facilities yielded a leading institution in this
vital educational field. Each student has the unparalleled
opportunity to perform the essential training in a comfortable
and caring atmosphere. Highly-equipped laboratories, museums,
dissecting rooms, multimedia labs and an ample supply of library
materials assist the student to follow the most recent advances
in his/her field of interest. The openness to the worldwide
information resources—available through several linkages with
renowned libraries on North America and Europe—allows the
students to acquire advanced knowledge and eventually interact
with a wealth of available teaching, research and practical
studies. The clinical training in the final years occurs in
the University Hospital, which is highly--equipped with surgical
theatres, intensive care unit and all outpatient specialised
clinics. Also, Radiology Department and clinical laboratories
complete the investigations and clinical teaching program.
After graduation, students will be appointed as ‘house officers’
for one year in the University Hospital or in other governmental
hospitals.
